The curriculum within our Functional Framework Program is designed to provide students with extensive hands-on practice in independent living skills, ensuring they can apply these skills in their natural environments. This practical, real-world approach enables students to learn and master essential life skills in settings that closely mirror their everyday lives. Within this framework, students acquire practical skills necessary for daily life, such as personal hygiene, household chores and cooking.
Personal Hygiene: Learning to brush teeth, wash hands and maintain personal cleanliness is a cornerstone of our curriculum. Students practice these routines regularly, using visual aids and supportive techniques to reinforce proper these practices and habits.
Cleaning Skills: Our program covers a variety of cleaning tasks, such as vacuuming, wiping down surfaces, organizing spaces and more. Our students learn how to use cleaning supplies safely and efficiently.
Meal Preparation and Cooking: Our students practice following recipes, measuring ingredients, and using kitchen appliances safely, fostering independence in meal preparation. As a part of this, students gain experience in grocery shopping, from creating shopping lists to selecting items and understanding food labels. They learn to budget for groceries and make healthy food choices, integrating these skills into their daily routines.
Routine Management: To support overall daily functioning, students develop strategies for managing routines and schedules. This includes organizing tasks, setting reminders and developing personalized systems to stay on track with daily responsibilities.
Social and Vocational Skills: Recognizing the importance of social interaction and job readiness, the curriculum also focuses on effective communication and basic job skills. Students practice role-playing different social situations and learn essential workplace behaviors.
